Abdullah ibn Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) is regarded as one of the most learned companions and possessed immense knowledge of the Holy Qur’an. His zeal and enthusiasm for the religion of Allah was staggering. His attachment and love for the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was such that he observed and learnt from the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) those things which others did not. For this reason, Allah blessed him with piercing insight and understanding of His religion. The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) dearly loved him and expressed his love for him in the following words,’ ‘I am content and satisfied for my ummah with whatever Abdullah ibn Masud is content and satisfied with, and I disapprove for my ummah whatever Abdullah ibn Masud disapproves for my ummah.
